Vacu-Lug Traction Tyres Limited was formed in 1950, employing a US licensed method of retreading agricultural tyres, this process quickly developed to retread the largest tyres used on construction equipment. In 1962 the Company purchased the Patent rights from the US inventor and proceeded to licence over 80 plants in 50 countries throughout the world. By the time the Patent had expired, new techniques in retreading tyres had been developed and as a result of this, truck tyre retreading was incorporated into the Company's portfolio. This maintained the Company as the market leader in all aspects of retreading. Today, based in Grantham, Lincolnshire with prestigious, modern, IT orientated offices and an 11 acre production site just north of Grantham, VACU-LUG Tyres maintains its formidable status, employing some 230 people. Vacu-Lug is still a privately owned Company and is the largest independent commercial retreader in Europe. With constant investment in new, world class, remoulding techniques and supporting its branded products, Duramold and Trakmila, the Company has increased its turnover and productivity in today's demanding market place producing over a quarter of a million truck retreads a year.
